During swim season, Pearl Riverkeeper staff and volunteers, trained in EPA-approved protocols developed by Alabama Water Watch, monitor weekly for E.coli levels at 4 locations on the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Mississippi.  Our bacteriological test results are reported weekly so that citizens know when E.coli levels indicate an increased risk of contracting recreational water illnesses.

Our goals are to encourage tourism and recreational use of the Reservoir, to educate the public about the Pearl River watershed and the effects of pollution on water quality, and to serve as a "first alert" for MDEQ in spotting a water quality problem.
